History of Carol of the Bells

Carol of the Bells was originally composed by Mykola Leontovych in 1916. It is a choral arrangement based on a traditional Ukranian chant known there as Shchedryk (also known as the Ukranian bell carol). There have been many different arrangements, lyrics and instumentations based on the original Mykola Leontovych work over the years but it is the adaptation by Peter Wilhousky in the 1930′s and his title ‘Carol of the Bells’ and the lyrics he wrote that are now known the best.
